The Lower Hunter over the next 20 years: A Discussion Paper is the first step in the development of a new regional growth plan for the Lower Hunter.
By 2031, the Lower Hunter’s population will increase from 540,000 to up to 670,000 people – that’s 130,000 additional people.
The discussion paper asks key questions about our future jobs, housing, transport, infrastructure and the environment.
Your feedback will be used to develop a draft plan, which will build on the 2006 Lower Hunter Regional Strategy. The draft plan will be released for consultation with the community later this year.
We will then develop a final plan, which will be implemented alongside the Hunter Transport Plan and Hunter Strategic Infrastructure Plan.
